ASSESED EXERCISE
Firstly, I am a student of the Technical Translation subject and I have learnt recently to difference the meaning of the synonim depending on the concret use we want to express in a sentence. At this point, we also studied that we cannot look always at the literal meaning of a word because it can be false. For example: "Reading is fun", there we have a verb in present continuous, and it has not means correct because it would be: "Read is fun", but we could even translate this sentence as “Reading”, same as “read”, because the aim of this subject is to provide us a way of talking about what we do when we translate, to use this framework, to start thinking about how we translate and how we can translate better. For example: "My teacher is a bastard" is a typical language from United Kingdom, because in Spanish we would say "My teacher is a “cabrón”.
In classroom practise I have recently translated the text called "Electronic screens as thin as paper are coming soon”, translation in which we made several mistakes, due to the difficulty that implies using a technical language about the electronic.
Unit 2 treats about the theoretical Framework and his terminology, that is a polysemous word with several means as Bank is the site where is the money or Bank the river is the lead and I have traslated computer terminology for example bit, data, server, shut down and business terminology (Assets, Cost of goods, Capital etc).
Finally, I've studied terminology about Acronims that were a word formed from the initial letter of the words of a compound term (BBC : British Broadcasting Corporation ,Laser, Nato, scuba, radar, faq, sql, jpeg, bbc, cnn, adn, usa)
